About Us

Kilforge Farm is a family-run, fourth-generation farm rooted in the heart of the Wye Valley.

For over 15 years, James Powell and his family have led the farm, expanding the free-range egg operation since 2012 while preserving its heritage and values.

We follow a mixed farming approach, combining poultry, arable crop production, and responsible land management across our beautiful acreage in Bolstone, Herefordshire.

We practise rotational cropping and careful soil management, maintaining biodiversity across our fields. Every decision we make is driven by a commitment to sustainable farming and leaving the land richer for future generations.

Happy Hens

Animal Welfare

Our hens roam freely, enjoying open spaces and natural behaviours. We’ve invested in high-welfare tiered housing and continually exceed standard farming requirements to ensure every animal is healthy and happy.

Balance

Sustainability at Heart

From carefully managed crop rotation to reducing waste and using eco-friendly farming practices, sustainability is at the core of Kilforge Farm. We work with the land, not against it, ensuring that every hen and every field thrives naturally.

Together

Strong Community Spirit

As a fourth-generation farm, we know that local farming is about more than just food—it’s about people. We’re proud to support neighbouring businesses, collaborate with local producers, and supply fresh eggs and produce to our community.

INTEGRITY

Honesty Box Tradition

We believe in the power of trust and simplicity. Our farm shop operates on an honesty box system, allowing you to pick up fresh produce whenever you need it.
